Code of Ethics
(the “Ten Commandments”)
- Attaining the long-term goals of the KPDP (defined as educational, attainment and social ones) is always more important than winning a debate.
- Respect general ethical principles and do not consciously break them. Adhere to the principles of fair play, honesty, decent behaviour and mutually respectful sportsmanship.
- Your confidency when delivering a speech is always to be combined with hubleness when listening to your opponents.
- Auditur et altera pars - listen to others and respect their opinions even though you disagree with them.
- Presume that everyone is being honest.
- Do not intentionally use improper, unfair or logically false argumentation.
- Do not tolerate intentional use improper, unfair or logically false argumentation.
- Arguing an issue from both sides is not teaching you hypocrisy or opportunistic pragmatism. The aim here is a formative one - to develop your critical thinking skills, to improve your self-understanding and, above all, to help you to learn ways of disclosing the truth.
- If you think positively, keep an open mind and are friendly then, according to the principle of action and reaction, you can expect the same from other KPDP participants.
- Listen, think, remain human. You are how you debate!
